Question Best thing to kill spiders??

The spiders are HORRIBLE here this year! They are all over the house, and all over outside. I can't even walk outside without getting spiderwebs caught in my hair! I can't stand it any longer!! Any help would be great!

chickens.... For the outside at least

lol, seems like a strange answer I know, but when we jiust moved here you couldn't take a step without seeing a dozen spiders fleeing along the grass...

Now after having a small flock of banties, I hardly see any at all.

Just my two cents..

Well, I do have chickens,about 13 that free range,and 7 ducks,a tom turkey & a guinea! Maybe mine don't like spiders?

Demon is an insecticide you can get at the feed store. We spray around the perimeter of the house and all the baseboards inside. If you are into insecticides.

If not I think cats like bugs.

In a couple of weeks when the hedge apples start to fall...gather one for every room in your house, and one in one corner of a room. Works

Why kill them, i leave them alone but if the chickens see them there dead. If the wife see them i have to kill them because she freaks out.

funny that this thread was on here today

Just yesterday, I saw 2 large spiders in the house both the same kind with brown bodies and black front legs. I just got done looking up what they were.

A type of wolf spider. The males get black front legs during the mating season, which is typically in the October November time frame. You think it means an early winter? We don't usually have spiders coming in the house till it really starts to cool off.

Good luck on your spider problem. We haven't had any hang down spiders yet. knock on wood.

Insecticides do not work well for spiders unless you happen to spray it directly on the spider. They just don't get enough on them by walking through an area you have sprayed (or dusted) to do any good.

For indoors, the most effective way to get rid of them is to place glue boards down in corners and under stuff (like the refrigerator). Prepared to be shocked at how many you actually catch.

Another method if you cannot find actual glue boards is to use two sided tape on a piece of paper or cardboard.

I know this as the wife of a former Orkin man who took many, many training classes and really knows his stuff. If you hire an exterminator who says he can help you by spraying, he is probably just after your money and not real into helping you eliminate the problem of spiders. Of course, spraying will eliminate the spiders' food source, which is other bugs. So in that regard, sprays may help to a degree.

As a side note, my son found a huge wolf spider at his house. He said he shot it 12 times with his gun and it was still wiggling. lol He hates spiders.

Wet/dry vac with vinegar and water in the catch basin. I love my Rainbow vac for killing spiders and flies, they get sucked in and drown!
