blackberry planting

Have the chance to get starts of blackberries from the neighbor.
The fruit is the size of the first joint of a man's thumb.
The flavor and sweetness this year is very good.
The question is when should I plan on getting the strats and planting them?

It depends on where you live - transplant in the fall if you are in the south and in the spring if you are in the north. But in either case, the transplants have to be ready to live on their own - away from the parent plant. I usually go by when they are producing their own small canes.

Hey.

Transplant them when they're dormant or in the spring when they just start to show first signs of life.

If you try to do it now with the heat and all the folliage they have, they will die.
