Need some quick help!

I 'm running irrigation water at the moment, and I knew my dog had a new litter of pups someplace???? I happened to walk by a culvert just as the water was getting there, and I heard them.

Fished all of them out and moved to a better location, but I dropped my cell phone in the water. Didn't realize it for a few minutes!

Any ideas on how to save one???

just bopped in and here is about the only thing I know you can do:

Remove the backplate and the battery, dry the battery and leave the backplate off, if you have a blowdryer, you can take that and set it on LOW and low heat, direct the air towards the connections for the battery and dry them first.

Then proceed to dry out the rest of the phone. Leave phone without backplate on, overnight so any remaining water can evaporate. Next morning, wipe battery connections and battery off with clean rag and reinstall.

Turn on and hope for the best. Sometimes that will work, other times you will have to take the phone in for repair at your local retail store (verizon, etc.) or you can call the provider of your cell service and request a repair ticket and if you have insurance, pay the 50. for a new phone and they will send one out, you will have to send the damaged phone back in the same box (they usually include a label).

If you don't have insurance, you can check your plan to see if you can get a discount on the phone..or buy a used phone (make sure it will work with your service) off ebay.

good luck - I've saved one that way and one was too water logged to save..

I once dropped my cell phone in the toilet...don't ask me how...
My husband did just as sidepasser suggested. It took a couple days to dry out, but eventually it started working again. Good luck!

I recently repaired an electronic scoreboard for a middle school. Seems the adults did not remind the kids to take the control panel inside and the panel was rained on big time. I took a long time to make certain the water and moisture was removed. First I did the blow dry thing then for several days I placed the open unit in the sun for a natural dry. The rain even caused a reaction with the circuit board and I had to redo several of the trace runs by resoldering. Afterward, I wiped the board down with alcohol and dried everything in the sun again. Worked fine. With the phone I hope you took the battery out ASAP after the plunge. It is absolutely essential to get everything dry before reinstalling the battery. Patience may have its reward! PS...do not take the phone back and try to get an adjustment and stating it just broke and did not get wet. Most phones now have an indicator inside that turns color when exposed to moisture.

Remove the battery, open it up and rinse it out with distilled water then dry it well. The water you dropped it into is loaded with minerals which will be on the inside of the phone if you don't wash the dirty water out. The minerals can cause an electrical short.

The bad news if the phone was soaked with the battery installed and turned on the odds of it living through the dunking are slim, very slim.
