I'm on a phone town meeting with Rep. Mac Thornberry (NAIS)

When and if I get to ask my question it will be:

I have a two part question: As your family operates a ranch, I would like to know how do you feel about the united state department of
agriculture's, National Animal Identification System (nais) and how could small scale farmers or ranchers continue to operate if they had to register
every cow, chicken, horse or any kind of farm or ranch animal whenever a birth, or death, when they slaughter, transport, or sale of any and
every animal they own.

Totally agree! The thread is going to end up getting moved to GC and the same merry-go-round will start over.

I must differ with your opinion. If it were truly dead there wouldn't be a thread. But, various govt. bureaucrat control freaks keep resuscitating this NAIS monstrosity. They would love nothing better than for folks to grow bored with the subject and ignore/forget/stop talking about it.

I should have been more clear, I guess. The ISSUE of NAIS is certainly not dead. But, everyone here on HT that has an opinion has probably expressed it at least 10 times over the last month or so.

I agree, we absolutely cannot ignore/forget about it... but a new thread on it will only result in the same comments from the same people. Just sayin'...

Well then, you had the same thing happen to me when our state representative had a town meeting by phone - he didn't "get" to my question.

One of his people did get back to me, and instead of having her ask the question and him mail me the answer, I requested that I could fax in the question, so I did.

He never did answer it!

My question wasn't on NAIS, but I do believe the town meetings by phone are answered in the order of what questions they WANT to answer, the questions they don't want to discuss they "don't have time for" and when you do ask the question so the representative can "answer" it for you, they don't!

They just want you to go away and forget about it.

Well, it DID pass, but global agri folks wouldn't let it be implemented. Money talks, I suppose.
