And the rest of the story

July 27 Crop Tour - pics w/hail damage - Homesteading QuestionsStorm from the porch last Wednesday. We got half an hour of steady, heavy, grape-sized hail, along with almost 3 inches of rain. Luckily the hail only hit one corner of the farm (about 200 acres)

Soybeans don't look much like the other picture. It hit about 60 acres, they aren't a total loss. Probably 50%.

Corn was all tasselled, it cut the tassells off and shredded the leaves but the corn will come back a lot too.

Shredded corn

Didn't knock the wheat down, just shelled 60-70% of the kernels out of every head and onto the ground where it's now sprouting fast.

Sorry to see the damage. We had a hail storm in June which damaged most of the gardens but it was early enough to replant. About the time the seedlings started up again, we had 4" of rain in two days and most everything washed out. Too late by then to start over. Hope you make it through this OK.

Is there enough damaged corn to make a pile? I'm thinking the wheat could be swathed (if there was a few days of sun) combined and then put the regrowth into the silo? Great pictures thanks for posting them!
