cleaning moss from roof shingles?

hope this doesn't post twice, been having some problems. we took out the large trees over the house (for safety as well as to let sun hit the roof), but it's been a wet spring/summer and on the lower roof, north side, moss is growing in the shingles. would you clean with a diluted bleach? obviously we don't want to harm the shingles. THANKS!!!!

I think a weak solution of copper sulfate will kill moss. That's what I'm going to use on the moss on my roof. I don't think it will hurt the shingles but I can't say for sure.

not sure how bad yours is but i just had a tree cut down and the whole shed was covered with this stuff. i cleaned it with soap and water came off easily but i think that is fibreglass. the shed out in the country was the same way. it's shingles. i cleaned that with bleach and water and a little detergent and a long handled bristle brush. i was told not to use a pressure washer. there are companys who do this. probably cost you a arm and a leg. leave it too long and it can even lift the shingles. from where i sit i can see the neighbors roof. that is what is happening to his. ...Georgia.

They sell zinc tabs that you can add to the top of your roof and as the zinc oxidizes it kills moss further down on shingles.

zinc tabs...can you buy them ....where? cool. this has never happened to us before, and we've owned this place for over 15 years. I first thought it was debris from trees, etc. til hub got up there to clean the chimney.

When we drive around the countryside, DH will point out the older barns w/shingle roofs, & galvanized ridge caps...no moss growing on them. Galvanizing is done with zinc. Those tabs should work, but you'll want a continuous line of them, I would think.
