New Shop

Okay, I just bit the bullet, and ordered my new shop. I decided to go with a pole barn style construction, but they will pour a concrete slab. It's 30 x 40, and has a 12 x 8 roll up door along with a 3' walk through door in front, and an 8 x 8 roll up door in back. I plan to place all my tools and work benches in it, and frame up an office room in one corner. Still working out exactly what size and where to place windows.
I've ordered it with a light stone color (tan) for walls, and a hunter green for the roof. Also ordered it to have insulation for the roof.

Here's the link;

So the metal and truss material is ordered, and should be delivered to my land in about 6 weeks, so hopefully within two months, I'll have my shop.

I'll try to get a few pictures before, during, and after construction.
Thanks for sharing it with me.

Sounds nice.

All buildings are built too small; we need to pay for them now, afterwards we grow into them.

I'd a tried to make it a little taller if I could find any extra money; don't know what you do or how you plan to use it, but a lot of things end up being 8.5 to 9 feet tall, and really sucks to have an 8 foot door. Even most of the compact tractors with roll bars, the roll bar ends up 8.5 feet high. Jack something up a bit, & it ends up bumping the roof. Get a load of hay, doesn't fit in under the roof. Etc. Got a whole mess of little sheds here at the farm, & nothing fits in them. Too low.

Sounds like a nice thing to add to the homestead, you will enjoy it. Thanks for sharing how it goes.

Thanks for the input Rambler. Since I selected roll up doors, the opening is almost exactly 8'. The top of the roll bar of my kubota L3010 is 7' 8", so I've got a couple of inches to spare. But eventually, I'll build a leanto across the backside, and park the tractor there. So, it will only enter the shop for maintenance.
I also plan to place railroad skids strategically beneath the lean to, just to store tractor implements on.
I currently have a 5' bushhog, and 5' rollover box blade, and still plan on getting a tiller, and a subsoiler.
I love to do woodworking, so I'll build shelves beneath the leanto, and store lumber there as well.
I'm looking forward to pulling it all together one day soon, and start planting my garden. I have to build a house first though...

I think you would appreciate taller walls as well,
I would suggest a min. of 10' walls, if you ever put a Ceilings in for heat you will want more than a 8 foot Ceilings, if yo ever want to pull a motor or jsut flip over a board, to clear lights,

much easier to put in a larger/taller door later than a taller building if need,

I don't know where you are and whether hot or cold or both are your concerns. I have 2 10x10 roll up doors and a walk in 3' door on the frt of my shop with no windows. I didn't want windows as a theft prevention measure, I can see all doors from my house. I would want tall walls and taller doors. What type of insulation are you installing?

That doesn't sound like a bad price on the building. How much is shipping or delivery? Are you near Iowa, LA? Can you pick it up yourself?
