What To Do With a Chainsaw Engine

I am going to purchase a new chainsaw and didn't want to get rid of the old one(Stihl 250).
The old one works fine and thought about maybe hooking it up on a bicycle, or maybe to a car generator and use for electricity if the need arises.

Anyone have any other ideas ?

When most people cut wood up here ,they always bring two chainsaws
I case one gets hung up on tree.

Cabela's had a blender powered by one. Maybe it was a gas weedeater motor. All I thought was how desperate to you have to be to have to have margaritas or smoothies.

Used to use them to power larger radio controlled cars when I was a kid.

An outfit in Oregon makes a windlass winch for a chainsaw engine. Tie an elk to the back of your chainsaw, wrap your long rope around the windlass a few times, and the chainsaw drags you and elk back up the hill to your truck.

Kid I grew up with put one on a scooter. It was quite fast. Easy to crash on though since the handling was kind of squirrelly at high speed. Extremely small steering corrections were a must. A big movement or trying to do too much maneuvering would quickly send it into an uncontrollable oscillation and on the pavement you went. Just had a section of pipe for a muffler and screamed like a banshee when it got really wound out.

You've got one of the best devices made on the planet! A few bucks every couple of years, and it'll last forever.

I really truly want another Stihl, a bigger one... trouble is, mine simply refuses to give it up. Had it for 14 years, and might have spent 150$ in ropes, bars, mufflers, whatnot... And I use the heck out of mine...

Thanks for the idea's. The Stihl needs a little work the engine is good..the handle and housing were a victim of a fallen tree gone bad. I have the means to get another and have the old one for a back up, if need be.

Chainsaws

I have five Stihl chainsaws here in the Alaska bush. They are all old but still run well. I need that many saws because parts are difficult to get out here.
As far as making electricity with one, it would be far cheaper, in terms of fuel, to use a small four cycle engine. Two cycles use far more fuel per horsepower. Better yet I would get a small diesel engine. I have a 6.7hp Hatz diesel hooked up to a car alternator. It runs 9 hours on one gallon of gas. I use it to back up my solar panels when the sun doesn't shine. In winter, when there is little sun, I run it one day a week to charge batteries. The batteries power a small freezer, lights, and my satellite internet system.

I think your video points to the wrong place... that's a video of drunk animals, not a set of chainsaw powered roller skates for elephants.
