Help! What is this garden pest?

I need help identifying what is eating my beans and squash plants. You are a resourceful bunch here so I thought I would give it a shot! Thanks!! Here is the culprit:

This is a great page for identifying bugs: http://www.whatsthatbug.com/index.html

Not sure what yours is....not a squash bug (now heave a sigh of relief!), not a baby ladybug, dunno!

Yeah, I have had squash bugs before, but never these guys. Thanks for the link, I emailed them.

I agree with Shawhee... looks like a soldier beetle. They are benefitial predators... they eat harmful bugs, not plants.

It was likely on your plants hunting the bugs that are eating them.

Kinda resembles a love bug......but you may be too far north for that.
