finally! our first meat is hitting the freezer

We've been on our farm about 7.5 months now - and the freezer is seeing the first animal harvest get stashed away.

Within the next 2 weeks, starting earlier this week, we should be able to harvest/freeze 1 yearling lamb, 26 chickens, 3 ducks, and 1 rabbit. It's a good start!

What a good feeling to be producing high quality animal meat to feed our family while giving the animals a high quality life. Organic, free range, happy, and yummy. Feeling pretty pleased.

Don't you feel such a sense of accomplishment? I remember when we put our first beef/pork/chicken in the freezer - it was a great feeling!

Gives a sense of contentment and satisfaction that's difficult to equal, doesn't it? Congrats!

that's the way to go, there's nothing like setting at the table knowing that the only thing you bought was the coffee, sugar and salt.

Wonderful! It is a great sense of satisfaction, isn't it? Just wait until you cook it and serve it to the family.
