Anyone else having problems with Premier 1 Supply?
I ordered 3 rolls of their Perma-Net back in May (on the 25th) and they promptly told me it was back ordered until June 18th.
OK no problem I can wait 2 weeks. Along comes June 18th and no notifications that it was shipped. OK, maybe they just received it and they are putting the orders together.
Then I notice they charged my CC on the 19th. I should be getting a shipping number and find out when it will arrive (I'm getting real tired of graining my goats and sheep, I want to get them on the pasture).
Now it's 6/23 and still no shipping notice (tried calling on the weekend but they were closed both times I called), so I called again and was told they are backordered until July 25th .
That is 8 weeks from the time I ordered them !!!
Their excuse was that they had more demand than anticipated, and the supplier didn't send what they said they were going to.
I at least got them to credit the CC until they actually ship (still waiting for conformation on the CC company's website).
I was told this is a good reliable company to deal with, now I don't know if I even want their fencing.
Anyone else having or had this kind of problems with them?

I have never had a problem with them.
I stand behind (or I could say the sheep stand inside) the electronet, intellitwine and the powerpost. All have been superior to anything else I have seen or used.

I dealt with them years ago when I had sheep, and I had no problems. However, given the situation, you may want to order something from another supplier and cancel your order with Premier?

We buy lots from them and never a problem. BUT, the demand has been very high for their fencing. Seems lots more people than usual have poultry these days. :baby04:
If you've called them and they fixed the bill charging and told you the fence is backordered they can't do anything more.
Really they are an excellent company, give them some time to get the orders in from the supplier.
You could get some Kencove fence (we prefer the Premier stuff).

I've ordered from them several times this year for the goat fence. I just ordered online this last week and they called and told me mine wouldn't be in to them until July 2 which is okay with me. I also like the electronet. It's great, I have 4 goats and have never seen any of them close to the fence.

I have noticed that lots of kinds of fencing materials and animal feeding products such as chicken feeders are out of stock locally, and have been for awhile. And it is taking the stores longer to get new stock into the store. I suspect that there may be industry-wide problems with this kind of stuff, due to increased demand, higher energy and materials prices, etc.

giddy, did you order the double spike or the single spike?
The reason I ask is that they told me July 25th at the earliest (if they get enough that time), but I ordered the double spike because of our sand instead of dirt here in Florida.

The double spike won't be in until July 2-that is what I ordered this time. The other fence I have is the single spike.

I just ordered a couple of panels and some electronet from them a couple weeks ago. I got mine in 4 days but it wasn't back ordered. I had telephoned them with a couple of questions before I ordered and then to order and I was very happy with their service.

giddy, is the goat fence the same as the Perma-Net?
Because if it is, then I have to ask them why yours is coming on 7/2 and mine on 7/25 when I ordered mine in May and you ordered it last week.
The reason I ask is to find out if they are jerking me around, especially since they already charged my CC without shipping. Maybe I should have raised a stink in May when it was originally back-ordered but I was being nice.
I write commercial websites for a living and if the product isn't available they should show that on their website, and the phone reps should know that as well. Not wait until the order is taken and the CC charged before telling the customer.

Actually that is very much against the law to charge a credit card until the order is going out! I'd have a fit too, especially if it wasn't coming til next month. I've always received my orders within a week until this time. I had gotten an email from them saying the prices would be going up and they were having a hard time getting some of their supplies.

I don't know about against the law, but they charged my card a month before they shipped too. I've done business with Premier in the past and never had a problem with them... I think they're experiencing the same thing many of us in this industry are: a MASSIVE demand for product and information brought on by a sudden wave of interest in "backyard farming."
This spring the hatchery I do business with was so overwhelmed I only got half my order, and lucked out on getting that. A lot of people got nothing. Premier had a waiting list for fencing. My servers are getting hammered as people look for information on raising chickens and sheep. Two left my farm yesterday destined for life as lawnmowers. The family was more than happy to take a wether and an ewe that can't be bred again... basically meat on the hoof... and paid me a meat price for them. I don't have the slaughter costs, so I'm happy and they're happy.
But I've noticed "everyone" involved in small scale farming is slammed this year. I'm hoping I can get meat birds in the fall, but I'm not betting on it.

I've used Premier 1 for the past five years and never had a problem. I'd expect the problems are more with high demand than anything else. They aren't a very large company and are pretty concientous for their customers.
I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I've never found a higher quality product anywhere near their great prices.
