No such thing as a 'dirty' workhorse, only dirty show teams.

The team I learned to drive with was a team of Percherons.

They are stunning.... I can not describe how jealous I am right now.

I just about bust with joy when I see folks like your Dad keeping up this marvelous tradition. Thank you for sharing!

BTW... What's the puppy's name?

Very nice, indeed. We had Percherons when I was a kid. Did everything with them, including haying. I have a pair of Belgians now, bigger and stronger, but nowhere near as intelligent and agile. If [when?] the time comes to replace them, I may well consider moving back to Percherons.

Again, a lovely article, and awful good lookin' animals.

Thank you,

Don

I've always loved driving a good team. When they're that good, trained that well...it's like they drive themselves..or maybe they're just so intune with the driver...

I sure miss my horses. That's a fantastic team. (and I don't mean JUST the horses! )

thanks for sharing the article.

Alway good to see draft horses working and great teamster with them. thanks

I let go of the lines once while drilling oats, the horses when into the barn and the old Ontario grain drill stayed at the door. it was a little wide.

Thanx!

For all the nice comments! the Left hand horse is Lady "The WOnder horse" and she is one of those horses anybody can do anything with-she is our carraige horse & I rode her english at the World Percheorn Congress in 06 even! That horse has been everywhere- from Plowing in NY to Logging in ID- and has never let us down.... it is nice to have such a good one every now and then!!

BTW- I would not suggest letting go of the lines EVER! But that team is usually driven every day, and if one is broke to drive in the furrow ( in the plowing )- they will stay there- unless driven out of the furrow....

The Dog is "bad dog" jake- he was a stray that my husband found- and he likes to roam- not good.... hopefully he will grow out of it-

Thanx for reading about us!
