hand saws and lessons

I was interested in learning about cross-cut saws, 2 man saws and the like. Where can i learn about how to properly sharpen and maintain theses tools. Im trying to decide just what i will need if i ever need to cut stove wood with out a chainsaw. I dont want to go ov3erboard with this, but id like to have the knowlege and the proper saw, not to mention the proper sharpening equipment, just in case. Is buying an old saw at a flea market a good idea? Try to restore it back to use? Or should i be more looking into a new saw? I want a good make , but not the high end. Is their a specific manufacturer i should be looking for? Any advice would be greatly apperiated.

The Crosscut Saw Co. Seneca Falls NY, they have a website. They also have a book "the Crosscut saw book" which looks good, I have been meaning to buy it but have not done so yet. A Crosscut, sharpened well, will cut just as fast as a chain saw. The problem, of course, is that YOU can't, at least not for long, and to cut a log with a crosscut, the log needs to be still. It is also nice to not have to cut it on your knees. So putting the log up on jacks (Log jacks) and having another person that knows how to run the other end of the saw etc. all takes time that the chain saw does not. I have 5 crosscuts. They are sharpened and will cut like mad. I love them very much. I usually pick up the chainsaw (sigh). Part of it is because, although my wife will help, I don't want to have to ask her. Part of it is that I'm 46 and I know I SHOULD use the crosscut, so I don't.
