Question "Springhouse" from a pumped well??

I have seen articles where a natural spring is used to make a type of natural refrigerator/cooler for milk, etc.

My question = Is it possible to make such a "Springhouse" from a pumped 100 to 300 ft well??

Thanks, Bill.

Sure, it can be done. But running a water pump/submersable pump to feed this style cooler might be less enery efficient than just using a regular milk cooler. However, if you had a windmill to pump your water, it might be worth the effort, if you have fairly consistant winds where you live.

As a child, we had a cement tank in the milkhouse that the cans of milk went in after morning and evening milking. We let the pump run to run in cold water during each milking. I guess it's the same principal as a spring house. Excess water went out an overflow pipe thru the side of a building into a tank for the cattle.
