Lately this site functions like a Yugo with 100,000 miles on it, hard to get going and down often.

Considering how little it costs to subscribe to this site, I don't mind the glitches

Spend 20 minutes preparing a post on how to prime a well in detail to a non mechanical person and hit the Post Quick Reply and the response disappears and see how your attitude shifts.

I learned my lesson a long time ago. At any forum at all, when I type out a long post, I copy it before I hit the submit button.

There are many times I have been very happy that I did that.

I tried all day too (I'm in Europe so my day started sooner). I just assumed the server was in Iowa and under water.

Can anyone tell me if it is okay if I hit the refresh button fifty gajillion times in quick succession when a page goes down? It is a slight exaggeration, but when a page doesn't work I will click-click-click until it does. I wouldn't do it if I knew it contributed the problem. Can I get a verdict on this?

After you type your post, and before you submit it, highlight the text in the text box that you just typed. Then while the text is highlighted, hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard while you press the C key. That will copy the text to your clipboard.

Then if you lose your post because submitting it went to an error page, you can either save the copied text to a text document until you can bring up the thread again, or if you get the thread to load again right away, you can paste the text in the text box.

To paste the copied text into a text document or text box, click where you want it pasted, then hold the Ctrl key while you press the V key.

Been there done that. I had spent a good deal of time crafting a post, and just before I hit "post reply" we had a power outage and I lost the whole thing.

Now, when I think I'm going to post something detailed and don't want to risk losing it, I open my word processing program and write it there, saving occasionally so I don't have to worry about my computer glitching.

Gee, a solution, imagine that.

Some people just like to sit around and complain and let others do the work.

Free admission and the site is down sometimes? Well ,I never...................

Sometimes, you can hit the "back" button on your browser and it takes you back to your post if you have forgotten to copy it.

Ladycat is correct in her instructions, but in case you don't know how to highlight, you place your cursor at the beginning of the text, hold down your left mouse button and then drag it to the bottom of the text, then turn loose.

Or to even shorten that, just hold down the Control key and hit the A key, and it will "copy All", then hold down the Control key and hit the V to paste it where you want it.

I also learned quickly to copy anything before I tried to post, after losing a really long one I'd worked hard on, lol.

That's the first thing I try, but it doesn't always work.
