Water tank coating ???

I have a galvanized water tank that is starting to rust on the inside. I'd like to get a few more years out of it (it's a big tank, that fits in the fence line between 2 pastures, and wasn't cheap). Is there something I can coat it with and still be safe for the livestock? Is there a paint made for this? Or?

Thanks,

Kathie

THe best paint that Ive heard of is powder coating, but even that isnt very good.

I had my mail box sand blasted, and powder coated. It just diidnt hold up. It started to rust in a year.

My reccomendation would be to dry it out, clean all the rust off, and brush on some rustolium paint. Do it every year...and block the tank up so it isnt sitting in wet dirt.

Nothing is permanent. We went to using old 250 gallon fuel barrels cut in half. THey are thick enough that they last decades before they rust through. THere are also plastic stock tanks.

There are some 2 part epoxies that might work. They are usually expensive and somewhat fussy to use, though. A good paint store should be able to help you out.
