Yankee Engine-uity

Hey, I've learned quite a bit from my hillbilly friends on this forum (those of you who live below the Mason-Dixon line). Our riding lawnmower conked out the other day and we had to get the grass mowed. In other words, we had to improvise!

I thought about it long and hard. The biggest dilemma was do I use duct tape or bailing wire. Being a RedGreen fan helped me make the decision.

Here is what we came up with including refreshments for keeping cool and hydrated (it's just over 70º here....a heat wave!).

I'm bettin it was the Mrs. what came up with that idea, her being of the Southern persuasion and all. Still the idea is what matters. Keeping the grass trimmed and maintaining fluid intake is a landowners responsiblity and as such I find it commendable that you take it seriously. Now, the question is does that thing have a hemi?

Heck with the 3 engines running and the gas consumption after one mowing you could buy a new rider.

I thought your wife mowed the lawn? She could have pushed one until it got hot and then swapped to the other while you stayed in the shade and drank those cold beers. She could get you another beer to take a break so she didn't get overworked, wouldn't want her too tired to cook!

That picture needs to be framed and put over the mantle!

I pass a house on my way to work where a wheelchair bound gentleman lives. He can't push a mower, and I suppose the mower deck on his tractor broke, because I always see him driving a little tractor with a push mower somehow rigged up behind! When we moved to our place, one of the city-transplanted neighbors hadn't gotten a tractor yet, so he had a go-cart with two push mowers attached. It was pretty clever. My husband mowed our whole place with a walk behind David Bradley until we could afford one!

Beeman, I like the way you think! Are sure we're not brothers that were separated at birth?
