Any use for a creek in town?

There are 7 city lots that are not usefull for building and have a year-round flowing creek through them. One of the lots *may* be big enough for a small structure and the creek has been engineered in such a way that none of them flood. Can anyone think of anyway these would be usefull for something? I thought maybe hydro-electgric but at 3.15 cents per kw here, it would take a while to turn a profit and I dont know if I could do that within city limits anyway... I hate to just let them go for taxes but I dont know what to do with them.

I see the perfect spot for a community garden there. Plant lots of productive trees (fruit and nut), a gazebo, lots of benches along a garden path, rent out garden spaces, a playground for the kids, expand a spot of the creek to make a pond and stock it with fish, etc. You could make it public or private. If you keep it private, perhaps you could build a pavillion and rent it out for company parties.

Donate them to the city for a park & take the write-off on your taxes.

Get them appraised first so you can substanciate the write-off.

Parts of the above post sound good too, but I'd be concerned about the liability/insurance with the playground.

Yes, a beautiful (maybe walled) garden/courtyard and gazebo. Rent out for weddings. See if there is anyone local offering white dove (pigeon) releases or horse and carriage wedding transportation and hook up with them to help promote the whole package.

Sounds like a beautiful spot for a big permaculture garden and a tiny little house to me!

I wouldn't consider using water from a creek running through a town or city... if there are any people in the watershed. City folks have this terriblesome hankering for green yards... and all the toxic poisons needed to keep them thataway. All of those toxics run down slope till they hit the streams... I wouldn't even let kids play in those waste filled streams. Oh, and I've seen floating 'snickers bars' in lots of in city streams... from overflowing or non existent sewers...

I have seen them engineer some pretty narrow buildings for lots like these and city lots. Could you place a singlewide on any of the lots?

Here is a narrow mobile from the Rvtravel web site.
