Canning lid quality

For those experienced canners out there......

Has anyone developed an opinion as to which manufacturer-- Kerr or Ball-- makes the better, longer lasting lid seal ?

Ball Corporation no longer sells home canning products. Ball spun off that part of their business in 1993 as Alltrista Corporation (which is now Jarden Corp.). Since 1993. the Alltrista Corporation has been manufacturing the Ball glass canning jars. They also make Kerr, Bernardin and Golden Harvest canning jars. Alltrista's home canning product and more information on Ball jars, can be found on their website at homecanning.com.

canning lids

Have canned for 30+ years...I see no difference. Some like Ball b/c of coating inside the lid.

I have never found any difference in them. I found some old (but still new in the packages) lids in my Great Grandma's basement. They had to have been atleast 25-30 years old and they worked. I think they were Golden Harvest.

I usually use whatever I can find on sale. That being said, there has been a noticeable diff. in quality in the last 5 yrs. to me. I don't think they are using as much rubber on the inside ring as they used to. Also, the metal itself is thinner than it used to be. Windy is right the same company makes them all.
Yr before last I contacted them because sooo many of my jars weren't sealing (I was using Kerr brand at the time). They basically blew me off and said it was because I didn't know what I was doing(I've been canning for 25 yrs). This yr. I've used ball or either American Harvest (found them both on sale) and so far so good.
