Tree ID Question
Are they Honeylocusts? There are trees that are blooming right now in New York and Pennsylvania, and probably the rest of the northeast too. They have white flowers. The leaves are pinnately compound and have smooth edges. The branches have thorns on them. I don't remember ever seeing seed pods on them but I could just have not noticed.
We had a couple in my backyard when I was growing up and I love them, especially the way the flowers smell. I just have never known what they were. Anyone that I asked would just tell me they were a trash tree, not good for anything.
Can anyone tell me if this is what they are? I have used a few different dichotomous keys, but they all give me different answers.
