Gnats

Not sure if the No-see-um thread was about gnats or chiggers, but I saw on a poultry thread a problem with gnats. We have them bad here right now, too. I use vanilla, spray or rub on my face and hair, lightly. It repels them and smells a lot better than other stuff. My Grandpa always carried a bottle in his tacklebox. Hope some of you find some relief in this!

The no-see-um thread wasn't about either gnats or chiggers. No-see-ums are tiny (1/8 of an inch or less) black bugs with wings. The females bite to get blood to produce eggs. Most people they don't bother, but I'm allergic to them and the spot where I get bitten swells pretty bad, and itches like crazy. I've found something to keep them away from me though.

Thanks,
Emily

PS - the vanilla is a great idea though, I've heard of putting it into rabbit water bottles and when it goes through their system and onto the ground, it will keep flies from laying eggs in the droppings. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm tempted!
