Which way to loosen bolt on lawnmower?

I have forgotten, which way do I turn the bolt on a push lawnmower to loosen it, so I can take off the blade? The same way the blade turns or the other way? It's on there tight so I don't want to strip it by turning it the wrong way. Thanks Chris

Mine turns counter-clockwise to loosen.

Lefty loosy, righty tighty doesn't apply to lawnmower blades or circular saws because of the way that the blades spin.

Not all circular saws,. If it is a worm drive or the blade is on the left.. It is righty loosey..

When you are loosening you need to put pressure against the "sharp" side of the blade, should be dull emough not to cut you, use a black of wood if need be. When tightening hold the back of the blade to tighten..... use blacks of wood and lock against the frame of the mower.....
