Cast-iron kitchen range info?

I went to an auction Sat. and bought an old Kalamazoo Royal Mission cast-iron kitchen range, chrome and all. It’s rusty, of course, and doesn’t have the bottom to it (it’s sitting flat – no “fender” and legs), but I love it. I’ll bet someone on this forum has probably taken apart and cleaned and reassembled a cast-iron stove and could tell me what to start doing, or perhaps give me some sites where it would tell me what to do. Anyone?? It would be very much appreciated.

i wish i cud be of help to you. i remember a few months ago a thread telling where to get parts for old ranges and wood stoves... Maybe u can do a search..
As long as the grates are good you should have no problem. I have moved and taken apart many old ranges like yours.. It will require some good old hand work. Found out in the years past. newspaper cleans the top surface well especially when a little warm. That is after you get rid of the rust with some steel wool.
Hope u find the legs for the stove to set on.

We used an air wire brush, air grinder and air sander to revive the last woodstove we found out alongside the curb. Cleaned up pretty well, too, but it was a bit of work. I think a few parts went through the sand blaster, too. These were for the cast iron parts, most of these methods would be a bit harsh on chrome. Stove polish is wax mixed with soot, I think is what was written on the side of the tube of the stuff we bought at the fireplace store.

Most grates are replaceable too. I need to look up the links I have saved on where to get them. Finding the base will be our problem.
