How many bushels in a cube???

I can't figure it out. Someone has plastic totes for sale (metal caged) that are 4' cubed. I need something to keep corn in the barn for my corn stove. I was trying to figure out how many bushels a tote would hold, and if it was worth the bother in getting a farmer to come to my house to fill it at harvest time.

I thought about buying a gravity wagon, but can't find them for less than $400-$500. I can't pay that just to store the corn (which is WAY overpriced, too, right now!)

Heck, I didn't even burn corn this past year.... it was cheaper to use my gas fireplace to heat the house!

A bushel of shelled dry corn takes approx. one and one quarter cubic feet.

Yes.

1 US bushel = 1.2445 cubic feet

So if a 4 foot cube has a volume of 64 cubic feet, the cube will hold 64/1.2445 = 51.4 bushels.

Nevada has it right-the way we figure it is 1 cubic foot equals .8 bushel of corn (from USDA grain storage formulas)therefore 64 cubic feet equals 51.2 bushels of capacity.

Any ideas on a better (easier, cheaper) way to store about 150 bushels of corn? That'd get me through a winter.

Old hog feeders are pretty cheep 3 of the standard 50 bushel size would be about right. I mounted mine on a old fuel stand and made a valve at the bottom I could open to fill a bucket or trough.
