I agree some of the things do sound dangerous. Alot of the things are just common sense things that gas strechers are doing anyway. Parking at the highest spot in a parking lot and the guy that wears an ice vest rather than turn on the a/c was a little much. lols.

A friend of mine who has a stick shift says that he shuts his pickup off when going down hills then starts it back up right before he gets to the bottom and needs acceleration.
Never fill your tank up. You get better gas milage on half a tank then a full tank. Reason is the weight of a full tank of gas.
Also, loose weight. If your obese then you are causing your vehicle to get lesser gas milage.

Some of the more dangerous things (ie, shutting the engine off on a turn) would save you a tiny fraction of gas compared to the big three: 1. Proper tire inflation 2. Don't idle 3. Coast on the hills. Putting your car in neutral saves a lot of gas, as does shutting it off. I'm running an experiment with my car, trying to get 70 more miles out of a tank than I normally do. So far I'm about 35 miles ahead! I do have a lot of literal junk in the trunk that I should probably unload, but as far as people, my family probably weighs a combined total of 250lbs.

Anyone planning on turning their engine off in a modern vehicle, to coast down hills... please add me to your life insurance policy...
I wouldn't recommend this with any newish car... you can cause problems with your catalytic convertors... as well as the possibility of loss of steering, and breaks... My truck is the dickens to steer with the engine running... off, well, I've still got some living to do first
And, I'll take a full tank over a half tank anyday.... with a ten cent per gallon jump in diesel every time I fill up, a full tank is a great investment... Could easily be a 5$ difference between just one tank of fuel to the next... Besides, the security of having the extra miles available "in my tank" instead of elsewhere.
The easiest way to save fuel is to not use it. After that, keep the speed below 60...

I've been experimenting with driving slower, pressing the accelerator as little as possible, accelerating much more slowly,coasting down hills (I leave it in gear, though), etc. I stick to back roads as much as possible, because you could get killed doing these things on a freeway! I guess gas will have to go over $5 before some of those idiots would think about slowing down...

I drive 45 in the mornings to work, 5 00, and 55 at nights. I look for and coast up to stop lights, and signs. I look at my tires once a week. I fill my tank once a week thereabouts, and drive it out. I AVOID unnecessary trips. I have now, a motorcycle, a Isuzu pup, just bought a 86 Dodge 1/2 ton yesterday, and have a 80 Chevy 1 ton dulley for heavy hauling. My theory is, useing the vehicle that will get me the best gas mileage for the load I need to haul, and useing the right vihicle for the job. and spareing wearing out any one of my vehicles from either hauling too much, or going to fast. I can go much faster for a much longer distance in the motorcycle, or the Isuzu than the 1 ton, but I can haul 3 or more times as much on it than the other 2. AND, I think ill carry Ins only on the 3 and not on the one ton except when I am going to use it, and if its really local, porobably not then. I think the gas I save in money will way more than pay for the ins of the all, and I have more vehicles to rely on if one goeas bad.
