Exclamation Invasive Snakehead in Arkansas

The invasive SnakeheaD FISH IS NOW IN Arkansas so that means it can travel up the major waterway,They live in ditches too.
if you see one kill it and report to your local DNR wildlife people.
this is a nasty looking fish so be on the lookout,Paula

Dunno how big they get, but after looking at those teeth, I'm betting you'd need a wire leader to catch one.

There was a special on them on the National Geographic Channel awhile back. Sorry they are there now. Those suckers are hard to get rid of. They can live outside of water for quite awhile; they can breathe air. Scary stuff.

One has to be aware that the Northern Snakehead resembles the common Bowfin. The bowfin has a short anal fin whereas the snakehead has a long one. Bowfins are native species.

Thank you superstitious Asians. They smuggle the things in for "medicinal use" and then turn them loose in some sort of ritual for good luck.
