@@!#$%^&!!@@!!! dog doors!!!!

Well, I am just so Pi$$ed! After fooling around with the only brand of these dag blasted doggie doors available in my town I'm ready to load the shotgun!

I have three dog doors leading from inside the house to the secure dog yard so my three ACD's can't get out into the property at night.

These products are just trash and they are not up but a few hours before stuff starts falling off of them! This time I had a contractor install the latest one that leads from my kitchen out to the laundry room. It lasted until the next morning and then stuff started coming off!

So, ideas and suggestions gratefully accepted. What do you do for these dog doors?

Thanks so much... at my witts end! LQ

Did you read the instructions?

I've never had a problem.

haha we cut a hole in the wood door, trimmed it, then used a white plastic cutting board on big hinges. Our heeler ripped everything else to pieces, she gave up with the cutting board. The cutting board is the door.

We also put one in a screen door, using a car mat from Wally World.

We started out with the heavy duty commercial doors, too. Our two dogs (husky/aussie cattledog crosses) wouldn't leave the plastic alone and within a few days they were toast. Artificer built a wooden dogdoor out of insulation core, covered on both sides with light ply. Hung it using a piece of metal rod as a hinge across the top. Took a couple of times coaxing the dogs to use it (it's a bit heavier than the plastic) but soon they figured it out and we now have a dogdoor that keeps out the wind and cold

The problem with store bought ones is they have to be lawyer proof. The one I bought years ago the flap had slits cut at the mounting holes to 'allow the door to break away. . .for the protection of you pet'. This also meant after a while the flap would start falling off on its own.

I make my own I have 40 in my kennel I make them out of floor runner the clear kind that has no spikes on the floor side.I fasten them up with flat steel & dry wall screws. I replace 4 or 5 a year , BUT that is afer thousands of dogs go through them

Ruff Weather - double hung dog door - 1 flap on the outside of the door & 1 flap on the inside. Very sturdy. 4 years old with 3 dogs constantly going in & out. It's 10 1/2 by 17" high. One dog likes to stand in the doorway, head outside, body inside.

I wonder if your dog door might be too small?

We haven't bought one yet that would survive a dog! We've decided to make our own from now on. Right now the hole in the door has two (one inside, one outside) large wood boards bolted to it.

You know, I have a big roll of that stuff up in the attic. Left over from my daughter's wedding. Guess I need to go dig it out!

Would it be to heavy for the cats?
