And in the blink of any eye they are gone.

The Japanese believe that the blossoms of the trees are like life. They bloom, diverse and short lived. Enjoy them while you can for within a short time they are gone.

Puts a different spin on things, huh?

There are very few things I miss from the Washington D.C. area, the cherry blossoms are number 2 on the short list.

Not much showing around here in central WI. The branches look promising though.

Our cherry blossoms just finished blooming this week there is still a carpet of petals on the ground-It's so pretty.

I read that cherry blossom viewing is a big event in Japan and that some favorite trees can be like members of the family (if I remember correctly).

I just love cherry blossoms.

Angie, I will take pictures at next week and then upload.

Shamrock, Yes the Japanese revere the Cherry blossoms, this time of year is as important as New Years. Families, friends, co-workers gather under the trees to picnic, and fellowship with each other.

There are songs, dances and kimonos are worn with Sakura (Cherry Blossoms). Drinking Sake after work under the trees is a popular event.

It is terrible for folks with allergies though
