Problem with tiller shift
I have an older Troybilt tiller, the 7HP Horse. It's about 15 years old. For the last few years. I've had trouble with the lever that shifts from forward to reverse.
If I have it tight enough to stay in gear when I want it to go forward, I have a heck of a time getting it back out if gear so I can stop. I often end up going way past the end of the row because I can't stop. Or I'll have to just turn loose of the safety switch so it shuts down. Then I have to restart, and it a pull start, not an electric switch.
If I loosen it up enough to easily take it out of gear, it pops out by itself every few feet, especially if I'm breaking new ground and hit a hard spot where I really need both hands to control the tiller, and don't have one to spare to hold the shift in gear.
If any of you have experience with this and know some sort of trick to the adjustment that might help, I'd sure like to hear from you.
Since this machine is from back before the company got sold, I doubt I can get any support from them.
