A better bike lock

I have one of those cable type bike locks. I hate it. It is too curly and won't straighten out.

Chains are too heavy and too easy to cut.

Are there any good alternatives that will lock both tires to whatever is handy?

Thanks

Jena

You could get 2 U-locks. They work well, and are hard to cut. I lost a key to one once and ended up having to take power tools to it. The hacksaw didn't make a dent in the hour I tried it.

Since you aren't getting many responses I'll add one.

It is indeed important to lock up both wheels and the frame.

Personally I think you already have one of the best locks that is reasonably convenient, at least if it is like mine. Kryptonite if I remember correctly, hardened to ward off bolt cutters and hacksaws.

I curl mine around the seat post when it is not in use.

U Locks. Hand cuffs. I have used both. Handcuffs take up less space

Use a cable gun lock, cheap, strong, VERY hard to cut(yes, I have lost keys before) and wont curl up.

New York Locks

I remember reading about the New York Lock several years back. It appears to be the same lock that Windy in Kansas mentions.

I just checked the price...75.00 to 80.00, probably cost more than most bikes I've owned. Lols.
