How well do those solar floodlights work?

I have to light an area about 25 feet away from the house at night. I was considering getting a solar floodlight, you know the ones with a solar panel and was wondering if you had one and or how well they worked. I have no access to electrical wiring so this is my only option. Thanks Chris

Whatever you do put the things on a motion detector. There is no need to have them blazing away all the time.

Hi,
We have had one for couple years.

Its been reliable.
The one we have does not provide a lot of light. Its just BARELY adequate to light up the parking area and get you in the house without tripping over the trikes. I've heard the same thing from other people, so if you need a lot of light, you may have to look hard to find one.

The one we have is on a motion detector, so it is only on for a minute or so at a time. It would never last all night on the solar charge if thats what you have in mind.

Gary

We use both the ones that stay on all night and then we also have the motion detector ones and I have been pleased with both and plan on getting one or two more of each here soon. There are some areas we want the light all the time and some places just if there is movement.

What about the light output of the LED ones compared to Halogen ?

This might help to understand. It explains better than I can.

I would just be for lighting the area while taking the dog out to do her business, 5 mins in the evening. Thanks Chris
