I not stupid Just Ignorant Question

I have been reading forums for sum time now, but can someone explain the acronyms that are used for family members it has been driving me nuts.
Example, DH,DS,DD,.
I have figured that DD is not Designated Driver, but maybe I am wrong.
Thanks for your help.
