Barn Pictures, post em if ya got em.
We are getting ready to build a barn in the next month or so. If anyone has pictures of a barn they built or just really like I would appreciate the pictures and ideas. We are going to start out with a small barn and add on. I know it's more expensive but the county I live in is a pain in the backside on permits, and I can get a permit for $150 for a 775 sq ft build anything larger would be about $700 permit. So we are looking at 24x32. Any suggestions are appreciated, we also can not have a loft but no hight requirements are in the permit and there are no inspections, really you are just paying them off for them to allow you to build something. Let see those barns.

That is a very, very nice barn. Hope DW doesn't see the picture of it.

Thanks! I LOVE it but it was built for my birds so it is full of bird poop. I still can't get used to that. I would love something like that for our next house. My thought was for a small shed type thing. DH wanted this. The birds will be gone soon due to my health issues so I think it will become his shop.

That's exactly what I was thinking of building. I was going to build it with the upstairs but just seal it in and open it up later. Where did you get your plans for building? That looks great thanks for sharing.

Ours was built by a Mennonite who had plans of his own that he used. If you have any questions about how it was constructed, I can look in the barn and get measurements and/or take pictures.

That's very generous of you I appreciate it. Hopefully I can buy plans so I don't have to bother you to much. Thanks for your help.

Here's our barn. It's 40x40 with a center hall (concrete floor), six horse stalls (dirt floor), a feed room and tack room (concrete floors) and a full hay loft. I found a picture online somewhere with a basic floorplan, printed it out and gave it to our builder. They built and finished the barn before they finished the house. If the house ever burns down, we're going to move into the loft of the barn!

Wow Ravenlost very nice barn!
We got lucky my brother was renovating an old warehouse last fall and we got 180- 2x12x16', 60 sheets 3/4" plywood and lots of 2x6 random length for free.About all we need to build our barn is 20 -6"x6"x12', metal roofing, rough sawn lumber for siding and lots of gravel.
The property has several amish lumber mills near by so getting a deal on the siding shouldn't be a problem.
Don't have animals yet the barn will be to keep machines where we left them.We will build something like the examples from page linked above with a large door in front and shed roof on both sides.Got everything staked out and hope to take the tractor out next weekend and drill holes for the sonotube pier foundation.

This barn is near the intersection of I-40 and I-77 and is free should someone here want to remove it

You do not want to see a picture of our barn. It's disgraceful.

This is our barn when it was first erected:
It is 30' x 40' and has an 11' open shed down the left side, which is not added into the above dimensions.

Ravenlost, I love your barn! Just like a barn should look
Here's our barn right after we bought the place in 2005. It's 40'x100'. We just finished giving it a fresh paint job a few weeks ago.

It's not much aesthetically speaking, but it does the job and has plenty of space.

Zukgod,
Don't know where you are, but there's someone on the Craigslist in Indy giving away a riding arena!
You've got to tear it down, though.
