.30 calibre M-1 Carbine handgun?

Does anyone knowif there are any handguns that are configured for this round? It seems like it might be a decent round.

Ruger used to make their Blackhawk single action revolver in 30 carbine. Don't know if they still make one, but you might find one at a gunshow, or pawn shop.

Thompson Contender makes a .30 carbine barrel for their single-shot handgun....and I happen to know someone very well who has a Thompson Contender for sale with three barrels:

.30-30 Winchester
.22 magnum
.410 guage/45 Colt combination barrel

Iver Johnson Enforcer. Heck of a little pistol. Got mine from a truck driver cousin who kept it in the cab for miscreants who hopped up on the running boards. A good amount of firepower in a compact package. I sold it when i got an AR-15 based pistol.

Why not?

Does he get free 38-357 ammo?

Ammo choices in 30 Carbine are pretty limited, and they are LOUD

With a 357, there are probably at least 50 factory loads available

I haven't run onto many quiet 357 loads.

I guess I just assume everybody reloads. You can reload a 30 Carbine pretty cheap at times. And you can cast your bullets, too.

The new 327 Magnum is about on par with a 30 Carbine. I'll probably barrel up a single shot carbine in it some time and try it out. The boy would enjoy plugging gophers with it no doubt. I've had quite a few 32 calibers, from 32 S&W to 32 Long to 32 Mag and 32-20. They shoot from 60 gr up to 165 gr pretty good.

I'd agree with that, but the 30 Carbine in a handgun makes a 357 sound like a cap pistol.

Yes they are loud but that is the fun part of it.

A .223 out of a 7 inch barrel makes a bit of a bang. You definitely want hearing protection especially if you're rattling off a full magazine of them.
