Water pump

Looking for suggestions for: we're wanting to pump water out of our pond for our goats as their only water supply. There's no electricity close so we'd have to use 12volt with solar. Anyone have any pro's/con's on this idea? Thanks!

How much distance will this water have to be pumped and how much "lift" will the water have?

A 12 volt camper pump would do the job I think, if your solar battery charger keeps the battery up. Those little pumps throw a lot of water with plenty of pressure. All you'd need to do is open the faucet to make the pump turn on and pump until you closed it.

If you don't have much of a lift check out bilge pumps. They are 12 VDC and at wally world you should be to find one for around $30 rated at over 600 gallons per hour. I have one corner of my property that holds water due to a private road and I used one to pump it 'dry enough'.

You can get presure regulator pumbs for less than $100 dolars at agri stores and they will do the job. Just put the pump just abofe the high water level of the pond and lte it push the water as far as it will go. If it is not that far it will work fine. The bilge pump will do theis also but will not have that much presure at the faucet end.
