Question Propane gas prices

I've seen quite a few websites that post gas prices in a given area. Does anyone know of a site that posts propane gas prices? I'm sure it would be hard to do one with individual dealers' prices, but it shouldn't be hard to at least do the wholesale price and trends.

Thank you. I did google, but what I found was sites about using propane, no pricing information.

I Googled "Propane Prices". I think the most important thing when using Google is how to phrase your search.

Oh, thanks for this site. We'll be needing to fill up sometimes over the summer months. I'll watch this site.

For my area, the prices on that website are considerably higher than actual (50 cents a gallon higher, for propane).

I got a fill on Wednesday (3/26) for my "locked in" price of $1.59/gallon. (1.49 when I pay within 10 days). I asked the delivery guy what the current price was and he said it was $2.19. He also said that his company has been unable to get any of the big wholesalers to commit to a price for next winter, and to expect big increases.

Though we're short on $$, I filled up today at $2.04/gallon. I figure it's only going to go up! Our propane guy confirmed this. He said it's on its way already.

It would be difficult around here to determine propane prices from a 'menu', because most places (maybe all) determine prices depending upon usage and/or whether a 'pre-buy' or 'lock-in' price.

In other words, if somebody uses only 200 gallons a year, they are going to pay substantially higher than somebody who uses 1200 gallons a year. Also, some people 'pre-buy' a certain amount of propane at the beginning of the season and then get deliveries made throught the season. And some people get a 'locked-in' price at the beginning of the season and continue to buy at that price throughout the season.

Right now around our area the propane price is averaging $2.00 a gallon +/- about 20 cents either way for a 500 gallon tank.

Hi,
I tried entering several different locations (east coast, west coast, rockies), and got the same propane prices to the penny. Not sure they are really using the zip code you type in except to list the name of suppliers in your area?

Where we moved to they base price on amount used and what it's used for. We were quoted in Dec. $2.67 a gallon if you heat with it, $4.25 a gallon if you use it for cooking. Well we have a propane cook stove and a heater in the sunroom. The heater was heating 2 rooms for us. But because we use it to cook with, we had to pay the higher price. I guess to be considered heating price you have to heat with over 700 gallons a year. We aren't sure what we would have used if we kept heating the sunroom with it. Instead we closed it off and are only cooking with it because the price is so high. (we crank the woodstove up higher if we are going to open the sunroom) The prior owners never used that room in winter so they weren't sure either but said they doubted between the heat and cook it would exceed 700 gallons. *sigh* why does there have to be so much of a price difference because of how you use it.
Propane is the least of our worries at the moment we need to start tracking Kerosene prices. That is what we use as main heat and heating of hot water.

Also keep in mind that all propane is delivered in trucks, both to the supplier and the user. Since diesel fuel is $4 just the delivery cost increase alone is significant.

I don't think any company will "lock in" prices in the future.
