Solar Lighting For Barns

Was going through Ebay trying to find some inexpensive solar spot lights for my new sheep barn and noticed that there are now 60 and 100 light strings of white solar lights. The strings are about 40 feet long which is perfect for my barn. I could run a string every 10 feet or so and have plenty of nice soft white light. My barn is going to be 24 by 60. Each string would go over and back giving either 60 or 100 lights over each 12 foot wide section of the barn.

Has anyone tried them??

I dunno how much actual USABLE light you'd get from them, but it is an interesting idea. For me, it would be useless. I see better in the dark then with the shadows LED lights cause. Others might like them. It seems like a good price, though. Let us know how they work out for you.

Those lights are cool lookin', but seem more decorative than functional, IMO. I guess it depends on how much light you need in your barn. DH just wired a light socket into a car battery, along with a regular light switch. It lights up the goat pen, which was our goal, for those midnight birthings that seem the norm around here. We may eventually hook up a solar panel to it, but for now we just recharge the battery with a portable battery charger.

We alternated corrugated metal roofing with corrugated clear plastic on the roof.

That's fine for daylight hours, but what about at night?
