YUCKY post!

There's a new post and it is gross. What do you do when you stupidly open something gross like the thread "For your Love"? Who do you report it to? I don't think I have ever had that happen here on HT.

I didn't even think about a pm. It really is gross and this is one place that still feels "safe". Sigh...I have noticed a couple of very prominent ads the other day were looking trashy. I haven't seen them since.
Think this is what is considered a troll? I personally think that is too nice of a term.

This is a professional spammer, the same person has hit my site several times.
(Same links)
They use names, and email address's that look like a "real" new member.
And a proxy (so you can't block them)
Once the admins approve them....BAM
They only get one chance per username.....but the jerk keeps comming back.

just don't click the links.....virus, spyware....and who know what else.

I asked Dean to look into it as Cabin fever isn't online. These types get through now and then; however, they have a short shelf life.

I certainly don't want to click any of the links, ugh! I scanned that and really couldn't quite believe what I was reading. I expected some silly type of thread. People can be clever with the titles.
So what is the purpose of spamming like that? I don't get that part.

When someone clicks a link they get a virus that can steal your private info.
Or sometimes to get a search engine to read it, so the site rank will improve.
Bad idea all around though....

Thanks Ross and Dean.
I am sure there are other ways you could be spending your time. I appreciate the Mods being here to stop these stupid idiots from wasting people's time.

OK, now I understand, I think I knew that about spammers but it just isn't my thing, to purposefully be wasteful of other's time and values, borderline criminal.

There's a triangle with an exclamation point in it in the upper right hand corner of each post, when you're signed in. Click on the triangle, and you'll get taken to a screen that will send a message to the moderator/administrator of that forum.

I'm an administrator of another vBulletin message board, and I'll tell you that the staff at that MB really appreciates the posters using that function. Also, we appreciate it if people who report the bad post will also put a message in the thread that says "Reported", so that other readers don't feel obliged to report it again, or post any further. Of course, I cannot speak for the staff of this message board.

Let me second the recommendation that nobody should click on the links. They may have spyware/malware at the sites linked to. Also, spammers sometimes get paid per click, so by clicking a link, you may be giving a spammer money.
