We have two out door boilers on the farm servicing 4 buildings. There is nothing like that much smoke. We used to run an indoor wood furnace and two wood stoves and oil burners plus electric baseboards. Today we're using less wood replaced all the oil burners (except the water heaters and they're next) and replaced all the electric heat. We had a 5 digit heating bill two years ago today we burn about 4 k in oil and 2k in wood. Total investment in the two systems ran about $35,000 and we did the work but we're saving 6000+ per year. Like anything else it has to be done right, I probably put 20 hours into set up alone, and those boilers/heat exchangers have to be sized right or you will waste wood.
