Water Catchment

We are trying to figure out the size water tanks we would need. There is just the 2 of us.....well and the Bassetts. We are looking at this as a less expensive alternative to a well. The area gets about 48 inches of rain per year, so I don't think we'd have trouble catching enough. Oz was thinking about getting 2 3,000 gallon tanks. I have no idea. Any thoughts?

6000 gallons for two sounds decent if you conserve.
what about watering the garden if drout does come . stranger things have happened . Its also nice to have an emergency water supply in case of fire .
a cheap alternative for fairly large volumes would be above ground swimming pools with tight fitting covers

water cachement

We currently have 5,000 gallons for 2 of us and it has been very sufficient. We do have a water saver front loading washer which has made all the difference and we are conservative, but we always have been even when we had a well or municipal water, so no change for us.
We are building another house on the property and are putting in 7500 gallons, but mainly in case we ever sell.
