nonelectric woodstove fans?

Does anyone make these with shields, like the reg fans have? You know to keep kids from getting their fingers whacked off? We have a MR son who likes to touch and we would like one of these fans for our woodstove, but would rather be safe than not.

I think I would be more worried about the little one getting it's hands on the hot stove rather than the fan. They don't have much power, really don't think it would hurt you much more than a sting

They don't have much power and they are hot. Heat makes them work. You can make a sheid out of field fence (WEB) that will keep him away from the stove and the fan.

He will stay away from our fireplace. My concern was the something shiny catching his eye. Also at 8 he could, but won't climb or step over a gate. He did so at 6 when he came to live with us...

Thank you all for the info though. I think we will look more into these. Any recomendations?

I wouldn't bother with one, the airflow from those fans is quite minimal, a stove creates a pretty strong air current on it's own, you should see our cobwebs dance!
