Woodstove Blower

HI Y'all;
First, I am on company time but the boss gave me permission to take a break and post this query.
My woodstove blower makes a sound like it is hitting something but I removed it and found no obstruction nor bent blade. It moves freely with the touch of a finger. I am assuming it needs to be replced, it is 20+ years old.

Does anyone know of an online source for purchasing a replacement blower and rheostat for a Squire woodstove or one that would be compatible?
The blower motor has ASCO printed on the side.

Thanks.
tamilee

Have somebody who knows what they are doing take a look at your blower - take it apart. There could be a bearing going, but it sounds like it could also be a broken/cracked blade or it is loose on the shaft. If the blades are plastic material - at that age they could well be subject to fatigue - the ones in our over the stove fan vent were quite old and the vanes were breaking up, but they were replaceable.

While there are probably many types of blowers out there for the stoves, I know of two - both in the range of $150-$200 each. One looks like hairdryer in shape. The is shaped differently than that - it is wider rather than longer. Both of these blowers work on many different makes of stoves. Many wood stove places sell them. If you could take in your old fan to a woodstove vendor, they may be able to replace it for you.

HI Neolady;
The blades are metal. The blades do not appear to be loose on the shat as I cannot move the shaft up and down.
There is no woodstove vendor anywhere close to where I live. The dealer I bought this one from went out of business in the early 90's when it became unfashionable to use them. Most of the local ripped them out of their house and hauled them to the dump, once people from up north moved in and started building large homes.
Thanks,
tamilee

HI Glenn;
I just took the blower out and it does indeed have FASCO on it. The F is in a triangle and i didn't see it.
