Grainmaster Whisper Mill

Anybody have or know anything about the 'Grainmaster Whisper Mill'?
Been trying to find a hand operated grain mill and came accross the 'Grainmaster'. It's electrically powered, but the advertised features make it sound very attractive. I presume it's made in the US as Aust doesn't have the market to justify them being made here, or so I've been told.

I've had mine for 8 yrs and still recommend it. I'm sitting here eating fresh bread right now and ground the wheat in my Whisper Mill just before starting the bread.

I've had one for about 3 years. I'd rate it as so-so. It is definitely NOT quiet!
I have no idea why they advertise it that way. Sounds like an airplane landing if you ask me.

Personally, I never really understood the need for a "whisper quiet" type mill myself. I want durable and sturdy.

The "whisper" mills that I have seen seem to work just fine. However, they should be called the "screaming jet engine" mill.

Well the company went under, if I understand correctly, after it was sold, and they don't make them anymore. If you find one, it is probably used or surplus. I LOVE mine. I have had it for 8 to 10 years. Never a moment's trouble. I have the dimension 2000 bread mixer, which was made by the same company, too. Bought it used. Love it too.

OK, somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they were the same company and that they went under after they were sold. Anybody else know for sure? Still if you are able to find one, it is a very sturdy product.

Thanks for the info CindyC. They are still manufactured and sold. I did a little searching and found this: http://www.nutritionlifestyles.com/whisper.htm
You may want to keep the address in case you need servicing or parts.

Jeff54321, Apparently that noise was a common complaint, however, according to the distributors the new 'microburst' grinders are much, much quieter and supposedly are similar in sound to a vacuum cleaner. Then again, the brand/type of vacuum cleaner wasn't stated, and some of those that I've heard are like a jet engine anyway!

I got mine in 1998 and then it was made in the usa. Since they moved to china and the complaints began (shocker).
I was searching for mills yesterday and came across the Wonder mill. It actually states that it is the old whisper mill.
Perhaps they renamed it because mine came with a life time warranty and of course that went bye bye when the company went belly up.

I love my whispermill and I hope it will last me a very long time. I am not sure that I would buy one today, I would look at the nutrimill, a friend got that one last year and she really likes that one.

either way, buy one, use it and enjoy, I too am sitting here eating some bread that I baked yesterday and ground the grain right before baking. You cannot beat it.

Whisper Mill is now called the Wonder Mill

Company went out of business and was purchased and renamed the Wonder Mill. I have the Whisper Mill for over 6 years now and it's a great mill.....

hope this helps

I use a Whispermill myself and like it well. It's an older one though from before the company going out of business.

Relative to some other electric grain mills I've experienced it does whisper though that just means mine sounds like our vacuum cleaner running rather than a jet turbine.

If I were buying a new mill right now I'd also look closely at the Nutrimill.

.....Alan.
