Skipping John Deere Super 66

I have an opportunity to get a really good deal on a John Deere Super 66 - the problem is that is misses tieing the know every fourth or fifth bale. Is this an easily correctible mechanical problem or would I be buying a horrible headache?

What is a "really good deal"?

Knotter parts can be very expensive, and a pain to fix.

$150 dollars for a working (except the skipping) machine. With a working ground driven tedder (7' swath) for another $100.

Buy it .... You can learn to fix the timing. I'd say its a timing and not a knotter problem, but at that price you willl make money if you scrap it.

A Super 66 is a New Holland baler of 1950s vintage. Sounds like a timing issue, the knotter probably just needs adjusting.

I agree...I think it is a timing issue, and not the knotters.

If you have a little mechanical ability, and some time to mess with it, I think I would offer $100 and see what happens.

The New Holland Baler Knotter manual is available on ebay, and should cover the 66.

For that price it's a good deal. They can be made tie great. If it was me I'd grab it. You can go to the ytmag.com site and they will give you some hints on what can be wrong.
