Drinking Water

Hi Y'all;
Has anyone heard of a solar still for drinking water? In this current drought i was wondering if anyone has made a solar still. I have priced them on the net and the price ranges from $400+ to OVER $700. That sounds sort of high.

Made them in survival school. Not something I'd particularly want to depend on for daily living.

I made this one along with a solar oven for goofing off projects

http://www.permapak.net/solarstill.htm

Makes about a 2-3 gallons a day on sunny days
A 4 x 8 one is supposed to do 5 gallons a day

If you look at the last picture on this page, check out the size of it. Look carefully, there is a woman standing in the lower right corner

A lot less - but I am a good scrounger. Item up your parts list and see what you can do
I used some plywood from another project - essentially free
a recycled patio door - free
1 1/2 inch foil backed foam liner scrounged - free
I think I only bought the food grade tubing and the black silicone
