New to HT (kinda)

Hi everyone! I live in the finger lakes (Southern Tier) region of NY with my dh and we have 4 boys. We just semi-inherited a 24 acre farm and are excited about growing and raising more of our own food. Our place already has an old barn and fenced in pasture land and hay fields. We will be getting some chickens in the spring and putting in a big garden. We also just bought an outdoor burner - I love this.

Even when we lived in town we used wood to heat our house and had a small garden. I think we will "fit in " a little better where we are now.

We also homeschool, so I am taking small steps into our homestead projects because I already feel their is so little time in the day to get things done. As the boys get older we can start to add more.

Nice to meet some kindred spirits and I look forward gleaning lots of info.

Welcome to the site. Since you homeschool you may want to check out the Classroom forum. Several folks will be doing monthly lessons with their kids on different self sufficiency topics, this month is candle making and the planning process is just starting this week! Good to have you here.

Welcome-love the Finger Lakes-whenever we go to the Adirondaks (every other year!) we drive back to the airport in Rochester & go thru that area.
