What's a good price for a used JD Gator?

A friend of a friend has a John Deere Gator for sale that we're considering. It's a 4x6, 2002 (we think), with 600 hours on it. Electric dump. They want $4000 for it. Does that seem like a good price?

Would this be useful? We want something to haul feed, water, hay, wood, people... and plow snow. We were thinking an ATV, but this seems like it might be more useful. Any thoughts?

I think that is a fair price. And I've thought of them.

But around here we can buy an older Ford Tractor for $2,000-$3,000,which I think will hold up better and find find cheaper acesseries

I don't know if that's a good price or not. I paid 3,500 last year for a demo model with 20hrs. on it from the dealer but it is the two wheel drive model.

I live in Harford County and have been pricing Gators and other UTVs for a while. That price is very reasonable assuming it's in decent shape. They are not easy to find used around here and you'd be lucky to find a new one for under $10,000.

My neighbor has one. He's attached at the hip to it! He can't figure out how he ever managed without it. Even the used ones are going for $4000+ - if you can find them.
