Court update

The end of November I posted for advice on going to court for a debt warrent I put on someone; and just thought I would let those interested know what happened the other day in court...
The guy shows up, and we go before the judge. I tell my side and he tells his. He complians that I never returned calls, I tell judge he calls my parents to say he can't pay after he tells me he has money... He couldn't be in court in November because he is working, but can't pay now because he is unemployed...I just bite my tongue as judge looks disgusted with this guys whinning. I get my judgement and supposedly 6% interest until paid. He asks judge to allow payments; judge tells me I can either take payments or pursue the judgement.
Outside the court room; his friend who showed up that night asks what will it take to get things going. I tell him anything is a start. This guy pulls out a handful of cash, and I do mean handful, and fishes out $500 and hands it to me. Then asks for a receipt. Gladly gave his friend a receipt. Then I told the guy I need something again in 30 days or I continue with the judgement.
While I may not have gotten all my money; I did get a big chunk of it. And although he is unemployed; I hope that having the judgement will make things easier if I go after his property. Plus I think it may have helped my case that, rumor has it, he and his wife got into legal trouble over christmas and they are trying to keep things as quiet as possible and stay out of as much trouble as they can.

Thumbs up

I always get some faith back in the justice system when I hear something like this. I hope you get what is due to you. At least the good guy wins this one.

Wish I had a "friend" to fork over $500 that I owed to somebody.

Why didnt you get a pay or appear order? Now to get the rest of your money you are going to have to pay and appear.
Glad ya got some what do you think the chances are it was his money that the friend was holding for him just in case?
