Mixing grain....

Ok - I usually feed my goats corn and alfalfa pellets every day. I have been mixing them each morning in a pan. Any idea how to do it on a larger scale? I have an 80 busshel bin. I figure about a 70/30 mix (corn/pellets), but nothing scientific. Any ideas?

Scrounger,
Do you have a barrel mixer for concrete? You could mix a weeks worth of feed for alot of goats in just a few minutes.
Before you do it throw a few baseball sized rock in and let them tumble to get out any loose stuff that may be stuck in the mixer.

I don't know your circumstances, but locally you can buy it bulk or bagged from any of the feedstores and mixed to your specs.

I don't buy vey much, and the local CO-OP doesn't have pellets that they will mix. Plus they charge a mixing fee. Later on, I will have my own to mix.

45 gallon drum, your choice, plastic or tin, cut half the lid out and hinge back on with a barrel bolt to the ring from the lid. you could add 2x4s on the inside to act as mixing paddles. toss in the corn on the flat then any other you want, roll to mix. you could moterize it but keep it simple!
