Bring It On, Propane Man!
No problem getting the propane truck down the driveway now. We've had so much snow this winter the driveway had narrowed to pickup truck width from all the snow piling up from plowing. We got a PTO driven snowblower yesterday and yee-haw that sucker can throw snow!
I'd say "Let it snow" but I'm off to finish shoveling almost 3 feet of snow off the chicken coop roof.

5 feet, Buhler and it's $1200.00 new.
The horses are so pampered now. He took it into the pasture and made nice trails for them so they don't have to make their own. I think he was having fun watching the snow fly 30 feet.

We already have a good base of snow packed down so he wasn't coming close to any rocks. He did however find that a snowblower can function as a mighty efficient manure spreader. Yuck.

Isn't it awkward and a pain in the neck to have to turn like that to operate it?

Very nice and a nice tractor too! I wish I had one, I have over a foot of snow in my driveway that I should really shovel. Chris

Holy Cow, we have had so much snow already this year that DH said HE would have broken down and gotten a snowblower if we didn't have our teen-aged boys!
I can't imagine living in a place where this much snow is the norm. Glad you like your new blower...I would have fun with it, too!

And I thought you were picking a fight with the gas man! Looks like a neat implement, and best wishes using it. Stay warm in the Northland.

Sweet blower! $1200 bucks!?!?! That's cheaper than a decent walk-behind. Who cares about the propane man when you have all that firewood growing around you?

takes practice and is better done at an early age, i started at 12 and now assume the position any time i sit on a tractor! you can get mirrors or front mounted snow blowers, was hoping santa would bring me a hydraulic powered 5ft for my skidsteer but alas he missed that one on my list!

Next winter we're planning on having an outdoor woodburning furnace and hopefully my wood cookstove ready to go. We're a bit tired of the propane dependency but we also use it for the generator, range and clothes dryer.
It's a work in progress.
Gilberte, yes he said it can be a pain in the neck to turn like that. He plows most of the white stuff then blows what he needs moved elsewhere. He just got it so I guess he'll come up with a good system. Too bad the seat doesn't turn on that tractor.

Another one for the list: Hot wire that has come down because all of the snow.
Luckily I saw it before the snowblower did.

dad bought an allied snow blower in 1973 (buhler bought out allied, kept making the blower!) for $500. used one year, sold it 3 years ago when we bought our large blower for $800.! did put a gear box in it in '83 when it swallowed a rock (many others went through before!) for $300. so we broke even, with 33 years of free use! with the open station tractors i wore a skidoo helmet, visor kept the snow outa my face and the helmet deflected chunks of ice, snow and branches.
may you have as many years luck with yours lisa though with global warming we may all need larger snow blowers!

Hey Lisa!!
Did you send a pic to Q6 news? There was a viewer that sent a beautiful pic to them of an area North of here and it looked like your area! Anyway, if you are lacking in the snow and your hubby wants to come take some of ours away, I have about 3 feet minimum in my yard right now. Our yellow lab looks like she floats as she moves across the yard!
Blessings,
And remember....in 6 more months it will be summer!!

It wasmy picture! I can't believe you caught that! I sent it in this morning and felt positively famous when they put it on the screen. It's a small HT world, isn't it?
We have about 3 feet too so no lack here but it started raining tonight after we got several more inches this morning. It will be a nice mess tomorrow.
Summer is too far off...I'm counting the days till spring which we declare when we hear the first spring peepers croaking down by the river. Last year they started on St. Paddy's day so just a little over 3 months!
